Screw Piles at the Mines

Middlemount Mine Job Complete

We recently completed a screw piling job at Middlemount Coal Mine in the Bowen Basin, and received an appreciative message from the Head Contractor.

"On behalf of the Hawkins Group I would like to thank you and your team for their professional and thorough conduct from beginning to end of the project at Middlemount Mine. Your team expedited the installation and worked through inclement weather conditions to achieve our milestone" (from Nicolle Sharkey, The Hawkins Group)

The job was for a maintenance warehouse and offices and multi bay workshop at the mine. It involved installing a test pile and conducting a static load test (see first photo). Once these results had been processed, piles were installed.

Pre-drilling was necessary to break through a hard layer (see next photo).

Russell Heale Screw Piling appeared in the company newsletter for the project, the "Middlemount Kronicle" for the staff working away from home at the site.

Here is Peter, Russell and Ashley looking very bright in their high visibility gear. Our staff have all the necessary medical certificates and the Generic Safety Induction for coal and metals which will stand us in good stead for future mine work.

We have been involved in many projects away from our home base on the Gold Coast, which we expect to continue as we go wherever the work is.
